States of Matter

Well, we finally finished up our states of matter  lessons today! As our final project, my students made booklets that included the characteristics, what the atoms look like, and examples of each state of matter in their drawing and pictures from magazines!

Then came the fun part!! We made Ooblecks (1 part water, 2 parts corn starch) and students made observations and then decided which state of matter they thought this thing was-- liquid or solid. It was great to see the kids play with the Ooblecks and make observations while doing so.

Some students were very passionate about their decision and it started a little debate in my classroom (I LOVED every minute of it!).

To get the recording sheets as well as a rubric visit my teachers pay teachers store here!
